Kalbi Chim

Kalbi Chim.... sounds so Korean =) well because it is....

It took me 6 hours to make these shortribs "falling off the bone"... it was worth the wait, you can taste the oriental flavors in the beef, not like when you use a pressure cooker to tenderize the meat.

I hope they will like it.

Creme Brulee

I prepared dessert for tonight =)
It was very rich and creamy. yummmm!

En Papillote

En Papilltote in French means IN PARCHMENT =)
This is a very light dish. Perfect for all health concious guys and gals.

This super easy menu is cooked by placing the fish and other ingredients that compliments the main ingredient on a parchment paper then sealing it all over (just like what you would do in making empanadas) and then baking it in the oven for 12- 15 mins. You can put whatever ingredients you prefer, may it be fish, shrimps, chicken or even fruits! Its really up to you.

For our dinner, I chose fish as the main ingredient.

Risotto

Making Risotto needs a lot of practice and patience, we need to cook it slowly in low fire while stirring it constantly in one direction to get the creamy texture.

You should be able to smell this Mushroom Risotto, the Portobello mushrooms released a certain aroma that made us want to eat it right away.

Japanese Favorites

Konnichiwa!

Cooking Japanese food is easy but quite tricky, easy 'cause you'll be using the same base ingredients for everything - sake/mirin, soy sauce and dashi stock. It's tricky 'cause even if you're using the same ingredients, you will be needing different amounts of the ingredient for every recipe. And this will make each sauce taste different, even if it's just a difference of 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. Very tricky huh?!
It's a friday night so maybe we can have a little "resto-feel" at home. Our menu....
Abby and mom(-in-law)'s favorite, Tofu steak, Asparagus wrapped in Bacon and Enoki wrapped in Bacon
My fave, Okonomiyaki
Arvin's favorite, Beef Sukiyaki

Aldrich's favorite, Yakitori

Everyone's favorite, Prawn and Vegetable Tempura

Seafood Pesto Pasta

Leftover ribbon pasta from last night was our dinner.
Pesto was the base sauce for tonight's pasta dish. It was sauteed with bell peppers, tuna chunks and shrimps.

Roasted Pork Ribs and Pasta Salad

I didn't know what to cook for tonight's dinner when I went to the kitchen. So I checked what was available in the pantry and saw ribbon pasta.... what else could be easier than my dad's version of his pasta salad? I had my salad but what's for the main course? ta da! I found whole "liempo" or pork ribs with a little of the meat side still attached. Roasted it in the oven with some garlic, onions and tomatoes.... And the dinner was served.

Great Britain

Everything in Great Britain is expensive.... I had chicken sandwich for GBP 7 which is around PHP 420.00 here.. and it looks like it only costs PHP 100 - PHP150.00. I had no choice.. and this was the cheapest sandwich on the menu....geeez

Had fish and chips for dinner, it was served in a styro... can't find the traditional fish and chips where they serve it in a newspaper cone.

Schlemmermeyer's Lecker Bissen

On our trip to Germany, I was on a quest in finding the best sausage... and we came across a sausage store named Schlemmermeyer's Lecker Bissen. This was the best one that I have tried, the only problem is....i can't remember what it is called! It was in German and I don't read or speak German..... Now that I'm craving for it, I can't make my order =( too bad. I hope someone or anyone can help me in finding the name of this yummy yummy sausage.

France

In France, we got to get to visit Paris and Versailles, both cities are magnificent. Loved their glorious architecture and excellent food.

Paris, a luxurious city and a shopping haven for all shopping addicts. Here, we found Gallery Lafayette where all high class brands are available, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga, Gucci, Fendi... name it they have it. Ok, enough about shopping.... let's now talk about their food.

French cuisine has always been beautiful, it doesn't just look good but taste excellent too. They always cook with much passion and artistry. Having to taste real French food was a wonderful experience.

Must go and visit Chateau de Versailles, where Kings and Queens have lived.
Gates and wall carvings were all gold plated.....

The famous Eiffel Tower in Paris
Eiffel Tower was once considered as one of the worst and ugliest structure in the world... but look how famous it got and is now considered as one of the greatest architecture.

Had dinner at Le Grand Cafe Capucines on our first night

seafood galore! this is their small.....

I was happy with my Foie Gras with sweet pastry and raspberry glaze. Melted in my mouth.

Escargot tasted like nothing =( it was bland, it wasn't salty or sweet or sour.. it just didn't have any taste. Was a little disappointed 'cause it really looked good.
Our Kuhol sa Gata tastes better. =)

He had Roasted Leg of Lamb....

On our 2nd night we had dinner at a restaurant that I can't remember the name.. it was Chez... something as youcan see on the plate....
